Sista in Circle
Was at the T-Sharing Session at IndigNATION6, organised by Sisters in Solidarity (SIS).
The session took off with a short film viewing – Transproofed, a comedy about transgender dating. Friends Ava and Joyce race to hide hints that Ava is transsexual before her unaware date arrives at her over-the-top apartment. Simply, its about being stealth.
After the screening, we seat in a circle and Trish start off the sharing session about stealth being unrealistic.
It was a healthy discussion. More sista should had participated to debate issue concerning to the transgender community.
Discussion touch on transgender wants and needs, ending discrimination/stigma for transgender, job opportunity for transgender and other wide range of sexual and identity variant subjects.
Alex had given the transgender some food for thoughts and a huge plus on a direction they (tg) should be heading towards.
Seems like SIS will be slowly making progress to fight for something that they (Marla and Trish) think is worth their while.
The major discussion landed on to make possible legislation for company to have anti-discrimination workplace practice, the anti-discrimination should covers over everything there every will be for every Singaporean.
If sista are not interested, they will never be. Like what Trish says… Stealth?! Don’t bullshit yourself.

Still prefer to remain stealth because it is the gentle way of integrating with people we work with. It is not bullshit. Too out will only cause people to react harshly, even if there is anti- discrimination law in place.
E.g. we may have TS being allowed to marry in their desired gender, but it doesn’t necessarily imply people are comfy with it.
Things don’t just work at a snap by having a regulation in place. On individual level, it has to go through bits by bits of relationship building with the superior, then only you feel people don’t discriminate you.
Regarding the sista being interested part, I have no opinion.
