Weight Loss & Exercise
Eating healthy is the best way to maintain an ideal weight. For all those people who are overweight, there is no better way to lose those extra pounds than avoiding fried foods and meals where oil is abundant. Besides, if we follow a good exercise routine, results will be more than satisfactory. It is never advisable to lose weight abruptly because this may be detrimental to our health.
Losing weight doesn’t mean depriving us of our favorite dishes, losing weight means taking care of our health by eating healthfully. Unfortunately, few people eat vegetables, which are excellent allies for combating cholesterol, heart diseases and obesity. Obviously, it’s not advisable to eat anything in excess but vegetables are the perfect complement to any kind of meal because they contain minerals and vitamins. It is one of the factors that we must consider to achieve our objective.
Décimo Junio Juvenal, a renowned philosophers said: “healthy mind in a healthy body”. One factor that we should never neglect, not only when it comes to losing weight but also in keeping our body free of disease, is exercise.
Exercise, especially aerobics, is highly recommended for losing weight. Aerobic exercise is exercise that involves or improves oxygen consumption by the body. Aerobic means “with oxygen”, and refers to the use of oxygen in the body’s metabolic or energy-generating process. Many types of exercise are aerobic, and by definition are performed at moderate levels of intensity for extended periods of time.
Some recognise benefit of doing aerobic exercises includes, but not limited to:
- Strengthening the muscles involved in respiration, to facilitate the flow of air in and out of the lungs
- Strengthening and enlarging the heart muscle, to improve its pumping efficiency and reduce the resting heart rate, known as aerobic conditioning
- Strengthening muscles throughout the body
- Improving circulation efficiency and reducing blood pressure
- Increasing the total number of red blood cells in the body, facilitating transport of oxygen
- Improved mental health, including reducing stress and lowering the incidence of depression
